Construction(Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015)

All stakeholders in the construction process have specific responsibilities under CDM 2015.

Whether you’re a:

 

  • Principal contractor
  • Contractor or,
  • Worker

 

There’s a legal responsibility to comply with CDM 2015.

When a contractor employs or appoints an individual to work on a construction site, they should make enquiries to make sure the individual:

 

  1. Has the skills, knowledge, training and experience to carry out their work they will be employed to do in a way that secures health and safety for anyone on site; or
  2. Is in the process of obtaining them

 

Paragraph 163 states:

Sole reliance should not be placed on industry certification or similar being presented to them as evidence that a worker has the right qualities. Nationally recognised qualifications, such as, NVQs  can provide assurance that the holder has the necessary skills, knowledge and training and experience to secure the health and safety for anyone on site.
