New Website for window installers recognised for big data innovation in the construction sector

The FENSA Knowledge Hub, an innovative new data insight and management tool, has been shortlisted for ‘Technological Innovation of the Year’ at the prestigious London Construction Awards 2017. FENSA’s new cross-platform tool allows installers to harness big data to target, identify and secure new commercial opportunities.

Commenting Chris Beedel, Director of Membership at FENSA, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted that FENSA has been shortlisted as a finalist for this prestigious award. We’ve registered nearly 13 million glazing installations since 2002 which provides data on performance, price and other quality indicators. We were keen to use this data to provide installers with meaningful insights that could help them improve the service and competitiveness of their offer for consumers.

“Installers are able to use big data insights generated from the FENSA Knowledge Hub to benchmark their products and prices against local averages, and also identify new markets. We are continually developing the tool which will soon include feedback on installer performance directly from their customers”

The Knowledge Hub was launched earlier this year to give FENSA members better insights into the market they are operating in, allowing installers to evaluate their performance and prices against the market average, benchmark against previous data and identify sales opportunities through demand trend insights. Its unique offering represents something completely new for the construction sector – a big data aggregation tool that is accessible to small and medium sized businesses.

The tool uses insights from FENSA inspections and registrations to identify the size of the glazing market in each Local Authority area, and can be accessed via tablet, smartphone or desktop computer. Other key insights from the Knowledge Hub include:

  • An overview of the installer’s previous work over a selected period, including metrics on elements such as energy efficiency, inspections, window and door installations and average order value
  • The average unit and order value across each Local Authority
  • An overview of all window and doors installations and inspections across England & Wales

The London Construction Awards, set to take place in October, rewards the very best in London’s construction sector, judged by a panel of senior construction professionals. FENSA’s nomination at a major construction awards ceremony highlights the innovative nature of the tool and its potential to reshape the glazing industry as we know it.

FENSA, the Government authorised self-certification scheme for windows and doors installers, is also the UK’s largest and longest established Competent Persons Scheme for replacement windows and doors.
