TCL has acquired an established services business which provides floral displays to thousands of local authorities and other private commercial organisations across the UK.
Plantscape, a Derbyshire-based floral display business, has traded since the mid 1980’s and provides services to many regional Local Authorities, including borough, town and parish councils, as well as many private commercial organisations.
Over recent years the business has built up an innovative range of products using patented technology, which it uses to create, supply and maintain displays in hanging baskets, raised Holestar planters, window boxes, barrier baskets and floor-standing multi-tier planters, all featuring Plantscape’s once-a-week watering technology.
As well as being used to decorate streets and public spaces throughout the summer, Plantscape’s products were also used by Glasgow City Council to decorate the city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and were installed on the approach roads to the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, when it was being used as a venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Plantscape has also developed the UK’s only solar powered Christmas tree for civic festive displays, offering a genuine off-grid solution capable of saving thousands of pounds in installation fees and energy bills.
TCL Group CEO Simon Cashmore, speaking about the acquisition, explained: “I have been a fan of what Plantscape have brought to the market over recent years, providing innovative design-led products that truly transform the environments in which the products are used.
“With such focus on environmental initiatives within many customer groups, particularly local authorities, Plantscape products both look great and allow its customers to make considerable savings in overheads through efficient watering regimes and reduced water wastage.
“I am delighted that Plantscape’s managing director, Mark Stone, will remain with the business and continue to lead the process of developing further products and services.”
Plantscape managing director Mark Stone added: “Being part of TCL will provide access to a far wider range of customers and allow us to continue to grow the business organically.
“TCL have a reputation for high quality service delivery and provide many services to the residential construction sector, education and early years sectors, local authority and leisure sectors.
“The acquisition will enable us to develop relationships with many more organisations and provide access to additional sectors I believe Plantscape products would serve incredibly well.”
