We’ve been manufacturing products for the Highways and Street Lighting and Outdoor Power industries on our Somerset premises since 1990.

The business grew from founder Colin Fisher’s Toolmaking business in 1982, adding wrought iron gates, railings and other products and later including fabrication of sheet steel products – Feeder Pillars.  We moved to Somerset from Erith in Kent to better service our biggest client at the time.  Since that time the business has re-centred itself and now has 4 core product lines:

  • Feeder Pillars
  • Pedestrian Crossing Equipment
  • Brackets for signage and lighting
  • Insulated Groundworking Tools

Here at Fisher & Company we have a well-earned reputation for manufacturing excellent quality and in industry leading fast lead times, especially for Bespoke and Special Feeder Pillars and other Stainless or Mild Steel items.

We were asked by Rexel Bootle to quote for 43 Traditional Style Feeder Pillars, all finished in Black & Gold livery for the Princes Avenue STEP Scheme which is due for completion this Summer 2020.

This £4m scheme is part of Liverpool City Region’s Sustainable Transport Enhancement Package (STEP) and focuses on the regeneration of the central reservation along Princes Avenue and upgrading the carriageway and footpaths along Princes Avenue and Princes Road.

By installing the 1km long cycle path within the central reservation – a first for Liverpool – the scheme’s aim is to improve cycle connectivity between south Liverpool and the city centre, with the plan to install a new Citybike station along the route.

The new cycle path would also form an extension of a new ‘green corridor’ to Otterspool that is due to be delivered in the next 12 months. The URBAN Green UP project has £3.4m of EU funding to install and test three ‘green corridors’ across the city, which was a key recommendation in the city council’s Strategic Green and Open Spaces Review.

We are really pleased to have been involved with this project.  WT Jenkins have installed around half of them as this goes to press and we are looking forward to seeing the finished project along with the residents of Toxteth and everyone who will be using this innovative link to Liverpool City Centre.
