OZ Lifting Launches Stainless Steel Chain Hoist @OZLifting

OZ Lifting Products LLC has launched the first in a new range of stainless steel products—a chain hoist, designed for lifting and pulling.

The chain hoist, available in 1 ton and 2 ton capacities, is designed for use in corrosive environments where the properties of stainless steel make it a preferred material. Essentially, the composition of the metal prevents rusting and serves as heat resistance. Coastal and marine industries are among the myriad of sectors where lifting products are integral to operations in extreme environments that place added demands on equipment.

The Winona, Minnesota-based manufacturer offers the stainless steel chain hoist with standard heights of lift (lengths of pull) of 10 ft. 15 ft., 20 ft. and 30 ft; the larger unit has two chain falls compared to the smaller hoist’s one. However, it does provide custom lengths to meet the requirements of the application. The net weights of the hoist heads are only 28.7 lbs. and 43 lbs. respectively.

Steve Napieralski, president at OZ Lifting, said: “The Grade 304 [stainless steel] product is the focal point of our new range. The hoist is lightweight and minimal effort is required to lift loads, but it is durable enough for some of the most demanding marketplaces. Early signs are that we are going to attract widespread interest from end users.”

The new product is now available to send to OZ Lifting’s network of regional distributors, but it has already been utilizing healthy stock at the facility in Minnesota to deliver same- or next-day shipment directly to end customers. The stainless steel finish is the only coloration currently available, further accelerating delivery to the point of use.

The product requires a similar maintenance program to hoists manufactured with non-stainless steel, as Napieralski explained. He also stressed the importance of adhering to maintenance and inspection programs, especially if the hoist is being operated in a highly corrosive environment. OZ Lifting outlines these requirements in an owner’s manual, included with every shipment. As the documentation states, the product meets a range of standards, including those of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Additional features include fully enclosed gearing; fully machined lift wheel; weather-proof holding brake; individual test certificate and serial number; and forged stainless steel hooks and safety latches. OZ Lifting offers a free spare set of latches, located on the bottom hook. Napieralski also pointed out the fact that all gears and shafts run on roller bearings.

He confirmed that other products in the range—beam clamps and trolleys—will be put to market in due course.
