Humanscale unveiled its ‘Path’ towards a sustainable future at Orgatec 2022

New products, including the world’s most sustainable Path office chair, were showcased at Orgatec 2022 last week.

Humanscale,  a global leader in the development and production of high-quality ergonomic furniture, welcomesthe return of Orgatec with the launch of an appealing range  of sit and sit/stand solutions dedicated to sustainability and the promotion of well-being in the workplace.

In the Koelnmesse, the ‘world’s most sustainable Path office chair’ was presented for the first time in Europe. Designed by Todd Bracher and the Humanscale Design Studio  , Path consists of nearly ten kilograms of recycled material, including reclaimed fishing nets, used plastic  PET bottles and post-industrial material.

Tim Hutchings – President Humanscale International said: “After four years of absence, it was fantastic to be back for our customers, stakeholders and industry colleagues.  It was also very encouraging to see sustainability and well-being so high on the agenda of Orgatec 2022. As a leading manufacturer, Humanscale’s foundation  is built on the principles of human comfort and sustainable design. Path is the latest manifestation of our philosophy and values. With Path, we continue to push the boundaries through full transparency in materiaal-use, production process and use.”

Path is the third generation in the collection of ‘Ocean’ chairs and the latest contribution to  Humanscale’s mission to have a positive impact on the earth. Path radiates warmth and the slim, round silhouette fits perfectly in both an office and home working environment. The colour palette of Revital textiles specially designed for Path is inspired by warm, elegant and neutral tones that bring the beauty of nature to the workplace.

Humanscale was the first manufacturer to launch an ocean plastic office chair with Smart Ocean  in 2018. After this successfulintroduction followed the Liberty Ocean, which can also be seen on Orgatec. Both chairs use nearly a kilo of recycled fishing nets, one of the most harmfultypes of plastic. Humanscale thus directly contributes  to the cleaning up of oceans by using abandoned, lost and discarded fishing nets that otherwise cause serious damage to vulnerable ecosystems and marine life.

In addition to sustainable office chairs,  Humanscale is also  introducing a range of integrated technological solutions, with the latest addition being NeatCharge.  Fully in line with Humanscale’s design philosophy of creating functional products that solve problems, NeatCharge turns any surface into a wireless charging area. This enlarges the workplace in no time. While traditional wireless chargers should be placed on the desk or between the furniture,  NeatCharge is inconspicuously attached under the desk or tabletop.  This prevents Clutter on the work surface and provides an unobtrusive, intuitive way to charge devices.

The following prototypes were also shown for the first time at Orgatec:

eFloat – This electrically powered sit/stand riser allows the user to effortlessly and seamlessly switch from sitting to standing at the touch of a button.

Float Mini – A new addition to the Float sit/stand family,  Float Mini offers a compact, ideal solution for small(er) workplaces.

Trea Lite Task – This is the lightweight variant of the award-winning Trea™ chair, which can rotate 360° and is adjustable in height.

Smart Conference – The Smart Conference is a stylish meetingchair that , thanks to its classicsolid foam shape and weight compensating back mechanism , makes every meeting comfortable.

Active Pony – Ont throws to stimulate active sitting and the latest addition to the Freedom crutches line.  Active Pony has the unique and compact ‘Pony Saddle’ seat and tilts 7° in any direction.

Humanscale is committed to the well-being of people and the planet.  Meanwhile, 26 products, representing more than 60% of sales, have been certified as climate, water and energy positive by the Living Product Challenge (LPC) of the International Living Future Institute. These are more than 25 times more products than any other company in the sector.

In addition to the use of recycled materials,  Humanscale also eliminates chemicals that are on the ‘Red list’ of coatings, finishes and additives. A so-called ‘Declare label’ is also issued for each product. This is, as it were, an ingredient list that offers full transparency about the use of raw materials and materials so that the user can make a purchase well informed and with complete confidence.

During Orgatec, Humanscale confirmed its position as a market leader in sustainable products that  harmoniously promote well-being and productivity.
