This year is already off to a flying start for Thermal Economics and it is delighted to announce that it is one of the winners of the Supplier Excellence Award at the Barratt Developments Supplier Conference 2019. Achieving the Gold level of recognition with the Supply Chain Sustainability School was a key contributing factor to this win. Barratt Developments has over 160 group construction materials suppliers signed up as members to the Supply Chain Sustainability School. With some great competition in the market, this was a fantastic win for Thermal Economics.
Hugo Brown, Joint Managing Director at Thermal Economics explains: “Like Barratt Developments, we recognise the great importance and value of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. It is an important part of building long term relationships and encouraging innovation in our supply chain. We have been delivering our thermal insulation products and providing thermal consultancy to Barratt Developments for more than 35 years and we are thrilled to be recognised again for our service, products and innovation.”
The school provides a wealth of resources to upskill members in the supply chain in sustainable practices. There are four different levels of recognition within the school: Member, Bronze, Silver, and Gold; progress through the membership levels is made by using the school’s resources and carrying out self-assessments.
By reaching the Gold level of recognition within the School, Thermal Economics has demonstrated an increase in knowledge on sustainability within the supply chain and construction industry, and also actively shared knowledge and experience with other members. In particular, as a leading expert in insulation and thermal calculations, Thermal Economics authored a technical information paper, which is free to view and download from the Supply Chain Sustainability School website, on the principles and limitations of U-value calculations. Matt Tiller, Head of Technical Services at Thermal Economics adds, “We also remain committed to engaging with the Supply Chain Sustainability School by attending breakfast briefings on sustainability topics and by continuing to use the school’s resources.”
Barratt Developments became the first national housebuilder to partner with the Supply Chain Sustainability School in November 2015, because they recognised the need to have a consistent approach to their supply chain on sustainability and responsible sourcing. By the end of 2016, Barratt Developments had achieved their target to engage and encourage all of their group suppliers to become members of the School. John Adams, Group Procurement Director at Barratt Developments says, “Barratt Developments are devoted to creating excellence in their Supply Chain by ensuring that all their suppliers achieve at least Silver standard by working with the Supply Chain School. Thermal Economics have demonstrated themselves to be a dynamic supplier to Barratt Developments and I am pleased to see them be recognised for their support.”
Hugo concludes, “After previously winning the Barratt Developments Award for ‘Technical Excellence’, it is fantastic to now be awarded the ‘Supplier Excellence’ award based on the gaining of the Gold Standard at the Supply Chain School. It is down to the devotion of our Technical and Commercial teams as well as the quality of our products that we achieve these accolades and it is great to be recognised by such a significant client.”
