VPS, the UK’s leading vacant property, construction and transport security specialists, have won through to the final shortlist in five categories this year for top honours in the IFSEC Security and Fire Excellence Awards.
Last year they won Customer Care Initiative, a category they have been nominated again in 2018 for their market-leading super-portal, Insights. They have also been shortlisted in the Large Security Installer category and for Security Project of the Year.
In addition, two VPS individuals have been cited for their work in the security sector. Doug Edwards, the managing director of VPS Guardians, has been shortlisted for his Contribution to Standards, for taking a sector-lead in bringing the top property guardian companies together to form the Property Guardian Providers Association. And Katy Fidler, who runs VPS’ accredited Remote Video Receiving Centre (RVRC) in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, for Security Manager of the Year.
The Security Excellence Awards are now in their twentieth year, and have consistently broken new ground in highlighting the very best people, projects and processes the UK’s security sector has to offer. The high calibre Judging Panel – including representatives from all areas of security & fire, the world of academia and the policing sector – will determine this year’s Winners, who will be announced at the Awards ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane on November 21st, hosted by the actor James Nesbitt.
A VPS spokesman said “Our staff are our key asset, and we’re delighted that they have been recognised by our peers in the industry. It’s exciting to be able to choose from such a wide range of security solutions to support an even wider range of projects, from the Paddington CrossRail site, through to the thousands of voids we protect and prepare for local authorities. Our successful, growing live-in guardians programme, and designing innovative technological solutions for our traffic management services demonstrates our staff are keen to keep that leading edge over our competitors.”
