One of the most recent residential projects from Havwoods, this city centre home has been transformed with a distinctive modern refresh and a beautiful, bright colour palette. Located in the bustling heart of Hackney in London, this new design features stunning wood flooring throughout following a dramatic restructure.
The brief was to transform a one-bedroom maisonette into a light, airy and sociable Parisian-style apartment, while maintaining the integral character and heritage of the building. By expanding the property upwards, and therefore completely opening the space below, this London home was transformed from a one-bed on one floor into a spacious maisonette with two bedrooms.
A Mansard roof extension was created to house the bedroom and bathroom while the bottom floor, which had previously been the entire apartment, was then turned into a large open plan kitchen/living/dining area.
A natural colour scheme, featuring stunning wood finishes and white brickwork is offset by bright pops of colours, natural greenery and even a contemporary disco ball in the dining area.
Of course, flooring is an enormous part of any property transformation. So, to add to the apartment’s chic style, a wide-plank wooden flooring from the Henley collection from Havwoods was selected to complement the new look. These single 200mm+ planks accentuated the feeling of space in large, free-flowing areas, and the colour and finish complemented the rest of the fixtures and fittings.
The natural warmth of this flooring was selected to supplement this bespoke interior, with the design’s distinctive cross-section showcasing the beautifully organic growth rings of the wood. The product is conveniently supplied in standard length planks, with a tongue and groove fit system, so offering a highly convenient choice for home installation but with the visual effect of individual wood tiles when laid.
The Henley collection from Havwoods presents a range of high-performance, pre-finished engineered planks with a superior-quality oiled and lacquered surface. The textured surface ensures that any superficial scratches and marks are naturally disguised without distracting from the floor’s original aesthetic. Sawing, brushing, burning and planning techniques are applied to the wood in order to add character, and every product is tested to ensure that these processes have not weakened the plank’s structure.
