With apprentices now making up 15% of their workforce, BCS is putting its money where its mouth is, backing the next generation of talent by becoming GeN+1’s newest Impact Sponsor! This April, Business Critical Solutions (BCS) teamed up with GeN+1 to support and help GeN+1 deliver exceptional events and networking opportunities to kick-start young peoples’ careers. BCS’s purpose is to optimise the delivery and performance of the technical places and spaces that enable business-critical operations. This is a reflection of their commitment to tackling the talent shortage and making the data centre industry an exciting, future-ready destination for the next generation.
BCS believes this partnership is hugely significant and will enable GeN+1 to host more of their inspiring, educational, networking events, with the common goal of attracting new talent to the industry. As more people are introduced to the Data Centre sector and support early career capabilities the GeN+1 community will continue to grow from strength to strength, bringing people together and providing a platform to share knowledge. The partnership is already in full swing, with BCS actively involved in upcoming GeN+1 events including the Cornhole Clash at DCAC Europe (13th May), a Run Club in Dublin (14th May), and a major networking event in London, the GeN+1 Summer Festival “GeNTONBURY. This is just the beginning of BCS and GeN+1 joining forces to energise the future of the industry.
Chris Coward, Director of Project Management for BCS, comments “Honestly, when I was starting out in the industry, I really wish something like GEN+1 had been around. It would’ve made a huge difference to have that kind of support and direction early on. We’ve got some big challenges to tackle, especially when it comes to the skills shortage, and GEN+1 feels like the right move to start making real progress. It’s not just about getting young people interested in the industry, but also making sure they actually want to stick around and grow in it.”
“What’s also really exciting is the kind of relationships this initiative helps build. There’s so much value in learning from each other, building trust, and growing together, it’s that kind of connection that really lasts and leads to success way beyond the original plan. GEN+1 has brought a fresh energy into the industry, and honestly, it’s hard not to get behind it. It’s something we are genuinely excited to support.”
GeN+1 is driven by ambition, striving to empower the next generation by instilling confidence to support others to excel in their careers. BCS becoming an impact sponsor supports the GeN+1 community to grow and thrive; it enables more investment to help deliver their vision for the future of the Data Centre industry. This new partnership will help to achieve their goals: to introduce more people to the sector, grow capability to address the current skills gap shortage, create events where people can build and grow their current network, and bring more diversity and inclusion to the Data Centre and construction industries.
Richard Irwin, Co-Founder of GeN+1 stated “It’s amazing to have BCS join the GeN+1 Community as an Impact Sponsor. From the beginning the BCS team has been a big supporter of GeN+1, sponsoring our networking events, hosting Run Clubs in multiple cities and taking part in our Master Classes. I cannot wait to see where his collaboration takes us next.”
