Liquigas, a leader in the distribution of LPG, has recently completed a low-energy office expansion project in the Italian city of Cremona. To ensure every aspect of the build would meet the needs of employees and work in harmony with the sustainability criteria, suppliers were carefully considered. When it came to air conditioning, a Panasonic ECO G VRF heating and cooling system was specified for its design flexibility, energy efficiency and intelligent control features.
Liquigas centred the design concept of its new offices around three key considerations: cost effectiveness, energy efficiency and the comfort of employees.
The Panasonic ECO G VRF system was selected as the ideal option for this commercial installation, partly due to its impressive capabilities in reducing C0² emissions and maximising energy efficiency, and partly thanks to its user-friendly and flexible control capabilities. This installation meets all of the key goals outlined for the project.
Energy and cost efficiency
To ensure a healthy and comfortable environment for employees, two gas heat pumps (GHP), each with 112kW of thermal power, were installed to provide maximum productivity. The GHP, combined with Y2 type 4-Way 60×60 cassettes, which were positioned in the ceiling, and three PACi Elite 5kW indoor units, delivered an extremely energy-efficient operation.

Furthermore, the system includes an option to select an independent operating mode (in heating or cooling) for each indoor unit. Alessandra Ferrara, Panasonic Regional Account Manager says: “The system offers maximum flexibility with its advanced internal functionality. It’s able to instantly satisfy individual requests from employees, minimising the risk of complaints due to discomfort.”
Comfort
A specific requirement for this project was the capability to remotely monitor the heating and cooling system via an internet connection. Panasonic CZ-256ESMC2 touchscreen monitoring panels were installed to manage the ECO G VRF system. This intelligent control module allows the management of all indoor units through multiple configurations, and is accessible from both the local headquarters and from Milan Central via web link. The configuration optimises operating costs with the option of pre-programmed settings, including holiday and seasonal settings. The CZ-256ESMC2 control also allows quick and simple temperature adjustments according to employee needs.
