Golden anniversary for Devoran Metals

Golden anniversary for Devoran Metals

Devoran Metals, one of the South West’s leading suppliers of reinforcing steel and concrete reinforcement products, is celebrating their fiftieth year in business.

Brothers John Orsman and Sandy Orsman bought the Cornwall based business in 1966, formerly known as Pellows. It was originally run as a joinery works and renamed to Devoran Joinery, which quickly became a byword for quality craftsmanship across the county. Over the years the company diversified into engineering with sales of non-ferrous metals and eventually into reinforcing steel. Sandy’s son, Richard Orsman, inherited the company in 1985 and continues to run the business today as Devoran Metals.

Managing Director, Richard Orsman, said:

“Building on the expertise of our forefathers, we have seen the business grow into one of the region’s top suppliers of reinforcement steel. We would like to express gratitude to our employees and clients. It is with their support and dedication that we have achieved this landmark of success.”

Devoran Metals now boasts over fifty years of experience supplying the construction industry and currently employs 14 people. It remains the only Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels (CARES) approved company within Cornwall offering a complete range of reinforced products for concrete.

The company has remained at its original site in Truro, Cornwall since the 1960’s, having undergone continuous expansion including the recent unveiling of a steel fabrication extension to the main workshop.

Devoran Metals has recently launched a new website, along with securing high-profile projects including Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, Waitrose in Truro and upcoming work to Auchrobert Wind Farm in Scotland.

As Devoran Metals looks to the future it is well-positioned and enthusiastic about further longevity.

Richard Orsman said:

“We are a family run company with a sound knowledge of the industry and its products, offering customers the highest standards of quality with a friendly service. This has been the biggest contributor to our success to date, and we look on with excitement as we move forward to the next fifty years.”
