To mark this year’s tenth annual National Apprenticeship Week, the Dulux Academy has announced it is to offer a range of courses free of charge to apprentice decorators. From 7-9th March 2017, the academy will celebrate the impact of apprenticeships on the painting and decorating industry, with courses taking place at the flagship Dulux Academy in Slough as well as at Leeds College.
With 50 places available, the Dulux Academy, which will also celebrate its first anniversary next month, is inviting current painting and decorating apprentices to take part in the two-day ‘Masterclass’ events, designed to support and supplement their training. Providing an opportunity to take part in a range of decorating based activities, the courses will offer expert advice on techniques, plus the chance to win prizes and take away goodie bags.
The week, which is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy. Hundreds of events across various industries are expected to take place across the country throughout the period.
Matt Pullen, AkzoNobel’s Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, said;
“We know there is a shortage of skilled labour in this country and recognise the importance of apprenticeships, particularly in the painting and decorating industry. The Dulux Academy aims to foster talent to ensure the current as well as the next generation is equipped to meet the challenges of an industry that is constantly expanding.”
