Williams Lester Appoints New Director @WL_Architects

Leading Dorset and Hampshire chartered architects practice, Williams Lester, is delighted to announce the appointment of new Director, James Green.

James Green joins the current board of directors, Andrew Kenyon and Stephen Johnson, bringing 20 years experience as an architect. This particular appointment is especially significant for the practice as 2017 marks Williams Lester’s 30th anniversary year.

The new directors bring invigorated energy and leadership to deliver the company’s ambitious objectives following the retirement of founding Director, David Lester.

James is returning to Williams Lester after spending the past nine years living and working in New Zealand. During his time overseas James joined New Zealand’s largest multi-disciplinary design office, Jasmax Ltd as a Senior Project and Associate Architect, responsible for leading teams in the successful delivery of large and complex healthcare buildings.

James’ final years in New Zealand were dedicated to rebuilding the Burwood Hospital Campus in Christchurch following the devastation of the Christchurch Earthquake in February 2011. James managed and led the highly skilled, 30-strong team to deliver 30,000sq metres of complex healthcare floor space on a fast-track programme in a multi-stakeholder environment.

James Green, Director of Williams Lester is delighted to return to the practice, commenting: “I am honoured and excited by the opportunity to continue the growth of the already well-established and respected Williams Lester name. The company has a proud heritage in delivering successful building projects over the past 30 years and we have a tremendous future vision for the practice, which we are busy implementing.”

Over recent years Williams Lester has invested heavily in emerging BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology focusing on quality of service, creativity and innovation.

He continues: “Williams Lester have been early adopters of BIM and we have developed our capability over the past 7 years with substantial investment. We are seeing great benefits for our clients with strong 3D visualisation providing clearer communication with planning authorities and project stakeholders. Working collaboratively with other consultant disciplines in a model environment is achieving improved information quality, which is making projects more predictable, more efficient in delivery and ultimately better value.

“Our success over the past 30 years couldn’t have been achieved without the team, who are fully engaged and committed to the exciting journey we’re on. Williams Lester has a bright future and we will continue to invest in industry leading BIM technology to ensure that our clients enjoy a service that is technically accurate, effective and efficient.”

James’ addition to the board brings a strong strategic and creative drive, increasing the company’s capability to deliver growth – captivating the Williams Lester name for the next 30 years.

To coincide with it’s celebratory year, Williams Lester will also be unveiling a new corporate brand identity in the coming months.

Williams Lester service projects across southern England from Essex to Cornwall, offering a diverse range of skills enabling the practice to resource the most challenging projects and achieve the best results for clients. William Lester prides itself in offering its expertise within three core markets; age care and retirement living, residential and conservation.
