Home manufacturer Facit Homes has been awarded the UK’s highest accolade for business success, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2018 in the ‘Innovation’ category.
Recognised across the world as a mark of excellence, The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are awarded to UK businesses for outstanding achievement in four categories: International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity. Winners are invited to attend a reception at Buckingham Palace later in the year, hosted by HM The Queen.
Bruce Bell co-founded Facit Homes in 2007, frustrated by the inconsistency and inefficiency of conventional methods of housebuilding. The judges recognised Facit Homes’ innovative approach, with the use of a central digital design model to ensure every component is perfectly designed and made. Special praise was reserved for their advanced structural system, the Facit Chassis, for which materials are delivered to site in flat sheet form and cut from digital files on a CNC machine in order to create each component. They described this process as “exceptionally efficient and environmentally respectful”.
